QNS not appearing in Non EDI, Manual Entry and Course Manager Screen
When entering a QN via Non EDI or Manual Entry the list of QNS returned are governed by the QWS file, not the performance measures file. The QWS file (originally) was designed for the post 16 courses and for England only. The fact that most Welsh and Northern Ireland QNS are in this list is of assistance, but as each of the three regions' courses have evolved and digressed, the content of the QWS file is different to the performance measures files and therefore naturally there will be a gap between this file and what you expect.
This is why and how you can have a QN in the performance measure and it not appear in these menu routes.
It is now an issue for our system that the Non EDI and Manual Entry relies on the QWS data. QWS is not always being updated accurately, which means that for all regions, the gap between what a school needs to enter in this way and what they can enter is widening. To remove the dependency on the QWS for this entry method would be a huge piece of work, so large it would have an impact on the other Exam work we need to do.
For a school that needs to enter these results for a student manually because they do not have an EDI results file, they will need to create a result marksheet in SIMS Exams and enter them via this route. Please see below:
- Navigate to SIMS Exams. Route : Focus | Examinations
- Go to Focus | Marksheet Set Up Award.
- Create a marksheet.
- Enter the result for the student in the marksheet in SIMS Exams.
- Save the marksheet and go back to SIMS.NET,
- Navigate to Tools, Examinations, Edit PI.
- Run CKD and then click 'yes ' to update the PI Cohort Membership.
This will update the result and add it to the Edit PI screen therefore not requiring the QAN to be manually added in the Edit PI screen.
