Description of Service
It is important for the good running of your MIS that you monitor hardware performance and arrange for the periodic replacement of hardware. Moving your SIMS infrastructure to a new environment can be a technically challenging proposition and we are pleased to offer a service to take care of this.
With experience of hundreds of such migrations, this service option ensures that the SIMS elements of a server migration are taken care of to the highest possible standards and includes:
Installation and configuration of the latest ESS-supported version of SQL Server
Installation of SIMS, FMS and Discover
Installation and configuration of SOLUS 3
Installation and configuration of SIMS Services Manager
Migration of SIMS, FMS and Discover databases
Migration of the SIMS Document Management Server
Migration of the SIMS shared folder
OSMIS Remote Backup Service reinstallation/configuration (where used)
Provision of documentation to support the re-configuration of 3rd party systems as deployed
Assumptions / Pre-Requisites
The school’s technical support provider will be responsible for raising the new server and managing all non-SIMS elements of the migration in compliance with infrastructure requirements detailed here
The school’s IT support company will liaise with OSMIS and will grant local administrator access via TeamViewer to the new hardware and facilitate suitable, fast connections for the transfer of data from the legacy location
If the school is to use full SQL server (as opposed to the free SQL Express version), a valid licence key will be supplied
The school’s technical support provider will take care of any workstation configuration following the commission of the new SIMS server - for this reason we recommend that the school’s technical support provider is on site the day following a migration
